Sustainability Governance and Policies

At Ahlström, sustainability is a prerequisite for creating long-term value and is embedded in everything we do, from our own operations to the businesses we own. Guided by the Ahlström family values of ambition and responsibility, we integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into our strategy and ownership model.

Business ethics and governance constitute the foundation for A. Ahlström’s ownership model with clear roles and responsibilities. A. Ahlström supports universally recognised human rights and assumes long-term accountability for ethical standards. A. Ahlström strives to comply with laws, rules, and ethical principles. A. Ahlström’s Sustainability guidelines define the expectations applicable to A. Ahlström and all of its portfolio companies to conduct their operations in a responsible manner. A. Ahlström and its portfolio companies need to ensure that sustainability is integrated into the business. However, each portfolio company is ultimately responsible for its operations and the way they are conducted.We monitor ESG impacts, risks, and opportunities through defined KPIs and integrate them into incentive schemes. Our ambition is to contribute to sustainable development and the well-being of society through engaged ownership, innovation, and responsible practices.

Our Governance Model

The Board of Directors approves sustainability objectives as part of the strategy process and monitors performance annually, supported by the Audit Committee.

The Responsible Investment Director coordinates and drives sustainability work across Ahlström.

Each portfolio company ensures sustainability is an integral part of its business strategy and appoints a person responsible for ESG performance.

Our Policies and Commitments

Sustainability Policy – A. Ahlström has published its Sustainability Policy in June 2020 to define a framework for sustainability. The Sustainability Policy is updated annually.

Code of Conduct – A. Ahlström’s Code of Conduct outlines the core principles and values guiding our daily work and it applies to all directors, officers, employees and representatives of A. Ahlström Group
