Ahlström Collective Impact increases its support for UNICEF
Ahlström Collective Impact continues its long-term collaboration with UNICEF Finland by increasing its annual contribution to UNICEF’s Global Education Fund, which supports children’s education worldwide. This year, Ahlström Collective Impact members’ combined donation amounts to €850,000.
Annina Tanhuanpää, Executive Director of UNICEF Finland, says: “Learning outcomes remain a major concern globally, particularly in low- and middle-income countries where many children lack basic literacy skills. Access to quality education and digital learning tools is still uneven. At the same time, international development aid for organisations such as UNICEF has declined significantly in recent years amid increasing needs for support due to geopolitical challenges. Bridging this gap requires stronger private sector engagement – making partnerships like Ahlström Collective Impact increasingly important.”
Ahlström Collective Impact is a unique collaboration model bringing together Ahlström network companies, foundations, and family members. Following the addition of Munksjö in 2026, the network now consists of 13 member organisations. Its mission is to advance children’s rights and education through a long-term partnership with UNICEF Finland, while supporting its members in integrating a Child Lens into business practices.
Nelli Paasikivi-Ahlström, Chair of Ahlström Collective Impact, continues: “Our ambition is to lead the way in integrating a Child Lens into business and investment decisions. For our members, promoting and protecting children’s rights is not just about responsibility — it’s how we want to do business. Through our collaboration with UNICEF Finland, we contribute to building a better future for every child. I would like to sincerely thank all Ahlström Collective Impact members for their continued commitment and support.”
Jyrki Vainionpää, President and CEO of A. Ahlström, comments: “Investing in education is one of the most effective ways to reduce inequality and drive long-term economic growth — it’s a compounding investment that benefits both individuals and societies over time. Through Ahlström Collective Impact, we can accelerate this impact together. Our commitment goes back to the 19th century, when Eva and Antti Ahlström championed education and community wellbeing. As we mark our 175th anniversary, we are proud to continue this legacy with our network of companies.”
