Built by the Ahlström companies, the property was completed in 1937. A new modern building was desired in downtown Helsinki, one that would be architecturally significant and centrally located. The design work was entrusted to the architectural firm Jung & Jung, known for their work on landmarks such as Hotel Torni in Helsinki. The office building has been in the ownership of the Ahlström companies throughout its existence.
Today, the property houses the headquarters of A. Ahlström Oy, along with retail stores, restaurants, and offices. Tenants include firms such as Castrén & Snellman, Aventum, Restaurant Savoy, Andiata, and the Savoy theater. Among the latest additions to the property are the upscale restaurants Café Savoy, and Minne Champagne & Wine, which have opened at street level.
