Through Ahlström Collective Impact, the Eva Ahlström Foundation and Ahlström Network companies have united behind a shared purpose: to support UNICEF’s global education fund and invest in a better future for children. By joining forces, we amplify our reach and deepen our impact, ensuring that more children, especially those in vulnerable and crisis-affected regions, gain access to quality learning, inclusive education, and the tools they need to thrive. This collective commitment reflects our belief that meaningful change is only possible when we act together, with purpose and persistence.
Today, Ahlström Collective Impact consists of A. Ahlström and Ahlström Invest, Ahlstrom, Destia, Detection Technology, Glaston, Suominen, Avain Yhtiöt, Metsäkonepalvelu, M&J Recycling as well as Eva Ahlström Foundation and Walter Ahlström Foundation.
In 2024, UNICEF and partners worked across 142 countries to enhance education access, with total expenses of USD 1.6 billion, including USD 922 million in humanitarian contexts. UNICEF’s funding model brings together three complementary streams – core resources, thematic funding, and restricted funding – all united by a single purpose: to unlock sustainable, system[1]level solutions that deliver results for children at scale. A part of thematic funding, the Global Education Thematic Fund is UNICEF’s leading strategic tool for driving this transformation.
Since its launch, ACI has contributed over €4 million to UNICEF’s global education program. This investment supports access to quality learning for children in vulnerable communities, strengthens teacher training, improves digital learning infrastructure, and helps build inclusive education systems in regions affected by poverty, conflict, and displacement. The funding also enables UNICEF to scale innovative, data-driven solutions that reach millions of children worldwide.
In 2025, Ahlström Collective Impact made an investment of close to EUR 750,000 into UNICEF’s Global Education Program. Read more here.
UNICEF’s Global Education Program provides support for millions of children who need to continue to learn, grow and develop the skills necessary to thrive in life. By bringing together the companies and foundations in the Ahlström network, the initiative can have a bigger impact than the partners could have alone. To achieve our goals, ACI focuses on active communication and engagement, collaborating with UNICEF Finland, and supporting our network companies in this work. This involves organizing activities such as World Children’s Day in our network companies, conducting training programs and campaigns to raise awareness of children’s rights, and integrating the children’s perspective into business operations by altering policies and processes throughout the entire value chain.
Ahlström Collective Impact celebrates World Children’s Day together with UNICEF Finland. United Nations’ World Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20 each year to promote children’s rights and welfare. Ahlström Collective Impact joins forces with UNICEF Finland to raise awareness about the well-being of the new generations as part of the World Children’s Day celebrations.
