Listed and non-listed industrial companies

We seek both local and international companies that are fundamentally in good shape and produce solutions that drive sustainable development. We are an active long-term owner with an entrepreneurial mindset, combining Ahlström’s 170-year industrial heritage with the team and capabilities we have developed over the past two decades.

Our strategic focus is on industrial companies in the Forest & Fiber and Environmental technology sectors, where we integrate synergistic businesses into a handful of world-leading specialist platforms. In addition to the platform companies, where we aim for leading or a majority ownership, we selectively make minority investments with the right partners to build learnings, capabilities, and pipeline, and to nurture towards potential control stakes.

Our success as an owner is based on deep industry expertise, a flexible ownership model, an international mindset, an extensive network, and a reputable brand. Together with Ahlström’s long industrial heritage, these provide us with a strong foundation to make bold decisions regarding acquisitions, mergers, and divestments of companies. Our unique way of working, the Ahlström Way, brings together best practices from well-run private equity, industrial and family-owned businesses.

Our current ownership in the strategic core sectors includes significant holdings in Ahlstrom Oyj (through Ahlström Invest B.V.), as well as Munksjö Paper AB, Suominen Oyj, Metsäkonepalvelu Group, Bast Fibre Technologies Inc., and M&J Recycling A/S. In addition, we have substantial holdings in other industrial companies such as Detection Technology Plc, Glaston Corporation, and GPV Group A/S.

In 2023, the total revenue of our portfolio companies reached 5.9 billion euros, and they employed approximately 19,200 people across 30 countries.
